A new Presbyterian hymnal is being developed by the PCOCS (Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song). Within the next 12 months the content list will be released. In preparation the PCOCS is starting a new initiative to call attention to congregational song.
Every Presbyterian will be invited to sing the same hymn in worship on the same days throughout the next two years. The first sing-along will be Sunday, September 4 when we sing "Blest be the Tie that Binds" (PH 438). Mark your calendars for the next sing-along: October 30 (Reformation Sunday) when we will sing "A Mighty Fortress is Our God." In January we will begin to intersperse old favorites with new possibilities.
You are invited to visit the PCOCS website regularly for the latest breaking news about the new hymnal. Let us sing to the glory of God with old and new songs!
