Washington Global Health: Doing Good and Faithful Work Globally and Locally

Seattle Presbytery

On behalf of University Presbyerian, First Pres Bellevue, Mercer Island Presbyterian, Bethany Presbyterian, and the six other churches sponsoring “Washington Global Health: Doing Good and Faithful Work Globally and Locally”, we invite you and and your members/friends to attend this no-charge event on June 20 at Union Church’s facilities in South Lake Union.  This event is being held on the eve of the Pacific Health Summit.  The point of this event is to begin to build a network among persons of faith who are interested or volunteering in the extraordinarily vibrant global health sector of our community and to include the leading scientists and researchers who will be attending the Summit from around the world.   Our target audience is the whole range of people of faith working and volunteering in global and local medicine, research, education and other disciplines.

Dr. William Foege, the former Director of the Centers for Disease Control, a Senior Fellow at the Gates Foundation, and the architect of the program by which smallpox was globally eradicated, will be our keynote speaker.  He will be joined by HRH the Emir of Argungu, an acclaimed health leader who is one of the Nigerian delegates to the Summit.  The event will include a reception from 5:30-7:00 and a 2 hour program at 415 Westlake Ave., in South Lake Union.

Below it the official e-vite.  Please feel free to forward it to your friends who may be interested.  RSVP’s can also be made to http://www.upc.org/outreach/Global/globalhealth.aspx. There is no charge but space is limited.
