CPIP Bankruptcy Notices

Seattle Presbytery

Many churches within the presbytery received their insurance coverage from CPIP (Covenant Presbyterian Insurance Program) prior to its demise.  CPIP is now closing its financial operations through bankruptcy court in Northern California.

Originally it was believed that CPIP would have no money available to satisfy claims against it.  Therefore in the initial bankruptcy procedure financial claims were not requested.  Now a small amount of money may be available to satisfy outstanding loss claims prior to the demise of CPIP.  For this reason many churches may have recently received notice from the bankruptcy court asking if they have any outstanding claims against CPIP.

If your church has an outstanding claim against CPIP those must be submitted to the bankruptcy court within the rules set forth in the notice.  The counsel we have received is that if your church does not have a claim against CPIP then you do not need to do anything.
