West Coast Premiere of New Oratorio in Bellevue

Seattle Presbytery

Local composer Alicia Lewis is reaching across time.

Presented this month as part of the Soli Deo Gloria concert series located at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, her new oratorio Joseph is a powerful new retelling of an unforgettable adventure.

She writes:
The Old Testament story of Joseph is deeply moving; it’s about one young man’s response to abuse, betrayal, culture shock, prejudice, exploitation, and ostracism. It’s about keeping your bearings in a constantly changing world and finding hope in the middle of impossible circumstances. There are so many parallels in Joseph’s journey to the trajectories of our lives today - I had no idea that a story more than three thousand years old could be this relevant and this contemporary.
Joseph, as sung by nationally acclaimed tenor Ross Hauck, receives its West Coast premiere on Sunday, January 30 at 2:00pm in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. Also on the program will be works from Sweelink, Bruckner and Mendelssohn. General seating; freewill offering at the door.
