Hospitality - Evangelism Ministry Team

Seattle Presbytery

Oh, no
You say goodbye and
I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Hello Hela, heba helloa
Hela, heba helloa            The Beatles

We’ve entered that time of year when people who don’t usually go to church may be considering doing so.  Heb. 13:2 tells us to "show hospitality to strangers" and in Rom. 12:13 Paul reminds us to "Practice hospitality."

Now might be a good time to take a look at the state of your own church’s hospitality ministry.  To help you do so we’ve provided the following two resources.

1.  For reflection and discussion: In the Beatles lyrics above the one saying hello or goodbye could be either the visitor or the person or persons who are a part of a church that’s being visited.  What acts might constitute a hello or a goodbye? Consider the different configurations and the various situations that might cause each to say hello or goodbye.

2.  An assessment tool to help remind you of some of the practical aspects of being hospitable.
